The Bauchi State Police have arrested a suspect after the shocking k!lling of a former Local Government chairman, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Wabi, in Jama’are LGA.
According to police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, Wabi was attacked at his home in Bauchi on the night of May 1, 2025. Two young men—Ahmad Abdulkadir (also known as Abba) and Faruk Malami (nicknamed Ajebo)—were said to have entered Wabi’s house and attacked him with a knife and a hammer.
Wabi, 66 years old, suffered serious stab wounds to his neck and was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. Sadly, he died while being treated.
One of the attackers, Faruk Malami (Ajebo), was found unconscious at the scene. Police believe someone may have fought back. He was also taken to the hospital but was later confirmed dead.
Wabi’s son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed (24), is believed to know the attackers. He has been arrested and is helping the police with their investigation.
Police received a distress call early on May 2 from a Good Samaritan about the attack in the Fadaman Mada area. Officers rushed to the scene and began an investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the family of the deceased and promised to ensure that everyone involved is brought to justice.
