A tragic incident occurred in Ashaka, a community in Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State, where a 14-year-old boy lost his life after allegedly being tricked into drinking a dangerous mixture.

The grieving father of the deceased boy, Usman Dala, went to the Ashaka Police Station to report the sad event. He explained that on May 1, 2025, his son Abdullahi and his son’s friend, Hassan Adamu, were approached by a man named Babayo Adamu from the Feshingo area of Ashaka.

Reports indicate that the man gave the boys a locally made substance suspected to be harmful. Sadly, Abdullahi passed away after taking it, while Hassan became very sick and had to be rushed to Bajoga General Hospital for emergency treatment.

According to police sources, the report came in around 6:12 p.m. Officers quickly moved to the location and took pictures of Abdullahi’s body as part of their investigation.

Thankfully, doctors were able to stabilize Hassan’s condition, though it was considered very serious at first.
