Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has said she will only present evidence of her sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio in a court of law.
This comes after Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, who represents Akpabio, asked her to withdraw her allegation, calling it baseless. He said she needed to explain some contradictions in her story, such as praising Akpabio online just a day after she claimed he harassed her on December 8, 2023.
Agbakoba had written two formal letters to Natasha—on April 14 and April 22, 2025—but she responded by saying she never received them by email, courier, or in person.
Natasha strongly replied that only the court can ask her to prove her allegations. She believes trying to force her to do so in the media is unfair and goes against the rule of law. She also accused Akpabio’s legal team of using the media to attack her while blocking a Senate investigation by saying the issue was already in court.
She confirmed that she filed her sexual harassment complaint officially on February 28, 2025, and she is ready to seek justice both in Nigeria and at the international level.
In her statement, she said:
“Only the courts have the power to assess the evidence. Asking me to give proof like this shows a lack of understanding of what sexual harassment really is. If more details are needed, I will give them during the court process.”
She added that any attempt to go outside the legal process is an attack on justice itself.
