The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has officially confirmed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is now the leader of the party in the state.
This was shared in a statement by Valentine Onojeghuo, the Publicity Secretary of APC Delta State.
Governor Oborevwori joined the APC on April 28, 2025, after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to the APC, the party’s tradition is that the sitting governor becomes the leader of the party in their state.
This decision was supported by the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, during the governor’s defection event. The Vice President made it clear that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership is the official position of the APC at the national level.
The party warned that no one else should claim to be the leader of APC in Delta State. They described any such act as disrespectful and dangerous, saying anyone who continues to challenge this decision will face punishment from the party.
The APC in Delta said it fully supports Governor Oborevwori and his M.O.R.E. agenda for better governance. They called on everyone in the party to support his leadership and avoid causing division.
