The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are all set to begin their journey at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations with a win. Defender Emmanuel Chukwu said the team is focused and wants to make a strong start against Tunisia.

They will play their first match against the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia today (Thursday) at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Speaking to NFF TV, Chukwu shared the team’s confidence. “We know this game is important because it’s our first. The coaches have trained us well and given us clear instructions. We’re going for all three points. We’re ready and won’t let the fans down,” he said.

The top four teams in this tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Chukwu also mentioned that the main goal for the team is to secure a spot at the World Cup. “As the coach said, our first goal is to get the World Cup ticket. After that, we can focus on winning the trophy,” he added.
