Ibori will join APC very soon – Governor Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, believes that former Governor James Ibori will soon become a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said this while speaking at a church service in honor of the late former Deputy Governor, Amos Utuama, who died at 77.

The event took place at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South. Oborevwori, who recently moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC along with other top politicians, talked about the need for political unity in Delta State.

He told the church audience that different political groups have weakened the strength of the state. He said, “If we are not united, our political family will fall apart.”

The governor also made a direct call to James Ibori, saying he believes Ibori will soon join APC. “You created a strong political family. Now it’s divided, with people in different parties,” he said. “I asked him when he will join us, and I believe he will very soon. I will welcome him in Jesus’ name.”

Oborevwori said it’s important for Delta leaders to speak with one voice, especially when representing the state in Abuja.

In December 2024, Ibori’s daughter, Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, left PDP for APC. This was a big sign that more people from Ibori’s group may also switch to APC. Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, recently said Governor Oborevwori now controls the APC in Delta State.
