A petrol tanker has exploded again in Oyo State, just days after a similar accident. This new explosion happened on Tuesday in the Aduloju area, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, the state capital.
The tanker was carrying petrol, also called Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), when it caught fire. The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a short statement. He said the fire had already been put out by the time help arrived.
“Serious petrol tanker on fire at Aduloju Area, Agbowo Express, Ibadan. It has been extinguished. Details later,” his statement read.
This is the second tanker explosion reported in the state in just a few days. Although the fire was successfully put out, these repeated explosions raise concerns about road safety and the handling of fuel transportation.
Residents are urged to stay alert and avoid the area in such situations, while authorities are expected to investigate and find ways to prevent future accidents.
