Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has made it clear that he’s not losing sleep over the opposition parties in the state. According to him, most of the politicians making noise aren’t even serious about contesting — they just want to be noticed.
Otti shared his thoughts while receiving Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, the lawmaker representing Bende North in the Abia State House of Assembly. Ibekwe recently left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the Labour Party (LP), a move the Governor welcomed warmly.
“We are not bothered by the noise from opposition parties,” Otti said. “Many of them know they won’t win elections. They just want to be seen during primaries or use it as a way to negotiate or seek future recognition. Some even start making noise years in advance, hoping someone will call them later and say, ‘we see you.’”
Governor Otti made it clear that his focus is on working for the people of Abia, not responding to distractions from political rivals.
He also congratulated Hon. Ibekwe on his decision to join the Labour Party, saying that nobody pressured him to make the switch. Otti emphasized that political party labels matter less to him than the actions and integrity of the individuals involved.
Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, while presenting himself, said he was inspired by the Governor’s achievements, calling them “unprecedented” and saying they were the reason he chose to leave the PDP for the LP.
With this bold move, Otti continues to strengthen the Labour Party’s presence in Abia State, while brushing off opposition drama as nothing more than background noise.
