Tragedy has hit Maru town in Zamfara State, Nigeria, as bandits have killed the Chief Imam of the 1st Jumu’at Central Mosque, Malam Salisu Suleiman Liman, along with his two sons.

They were kidnapped during a violent night raid on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The raid happened in the middle of the night and lasted for about two hours.

The Imam and his sons were not the only victims. A newly married couple, Muhammad Suleiman and his wife, Balkisu, were also kidnapped on the same night. It was their first night together after their wedding ceremony.

Security expert, Bakatsine, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Tuesday, April 29. He said that the bandits killed the Imam and his family members during their captivity.

This attack is another sad example of the rising insecurity in Zamfara and other parts of northern Nigeria.
