Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State to leave behind the old habits of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). Nwoko, in a statement, praised Oborevwori for his decision to switch parties but advised him to ensure that his move leads to positive change.
He emphasized that Oborevwori should avoid repeating the mistakes made by the PDP, which he believes led to the party’s decline in the state. Nwoko said, “Leave behind the politics of survival and step into the politics of legacy.” He further explained that old politics and deals should not be carried over into the new APC era.
The senator highlighted that the APC is already planning constitutional changes, including the creation of Anioma and New Delta states, and reminded Oborevwori that these plans were in motion long before his defection. This shows the APC’s commitment to addressing historical issues and regional inequality.
Nwoko called on the governor to adopt a fresh perspective, lead efforts for constitutional reforms, and focus on inclusive development and fair governance as part of his new role in the APC.
