Popular Nigerian skit maker and singer, Carter Efe, has criticized the organizers of the Headies Awards.
Carter Efe expressed his disappointment after the Headies honored the late Afrobeats singer, Mohbad, with a posthumous award.
The 17th edition of the Headies Award took place on the 27th of this month in Lagos. During the event, Mohbad, who sadly passed away in 2023, was given the award for Best Street-Hop Artiste. His widow, Wunmi, accepted the award on his behalf.
Reacting to the news, Carter Efe said the Headies were “misbehaving” for giving the award to Mohbad after his death.
He shared his opinion online, sparking mixed reactions from fans and followers.
He said in part:
“Why Headies they misbehave now. You go dey nominate Mohbad? Wetin make them nominate Mohbad. But when the boy go dey alive them no go give am o. Anything for the clout na him dem go dey go.”
