Carlo Ancelotti to leave Real Madrid with Italian manager set to take charge of Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti will leave his role as Real Madrid’s manager at the end of the season and is set to become the new coach of Brazil’s national football team. His current contract at Madrid runs until 2026, but reports confirm that both parties have decided to part ways earlier.

Ancelotti’s time at Madrid has seen both successes and challenges. Recently, Madrid lost the Copa del Rey final 3-2 to Barcelona and was knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal. The team also trails Barcelona by four points in the La Liga standings, with only five games remaining. These matches will mark the end of Ancelotti’s tenure at the Bernabeu.

Brazil has been actively working to bring Ancelotti on board as their new head coach. The move will happen once the Spanish season ends, meaning Ancelotti will not be in charge for this summer’s Club World Cup. Talks have been ongoing for a while, with Diego Fernandes, an intermediary for the Brazilian Football Federation, meeting with Ancelotti after the Copa del Rey final in Sevilla. Fernandes has spent significant time in Spain to convince Ancelotti to take the job before the World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay in June.

As Ancelotti prepares to leave, there’s speculation about who will replace him. Former Real Madrid player and current Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is considered a top candidate to take over.
