China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has spoken out against US tariffs, saying they show “extreme egoism.” He said China supports international trade rules and is against protectionism.
Wang made these comments during a meeting with Central Asian foreign ministers in Kazakhstan. He said China wants to work with other countries to stand against unfair trade practices and bullying by powerful nations.
This comes after China recently removed some tariffs on US goods. Many see this as a sign that the trade war between the US and China might be calming down.
However, US President Donald Trump claimed that talks were happening between the two countries. China quickly denied that, showing the mixed messages around the issue.
While meeting Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi said China will keep supporting cooperation between nations and multilateralism to help bring stability to the world.
