Davido recounts how Army, Immigration officials launched search for him

Afrobeats superstar, Davido, recently shared a personal story about his early days chasing music. During an interview on the American podcast Bagfuel Brigade, Davido opened up about how he once ran away from home as a teenager.

At the time, he was living with his billionaire father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, in a 16-bedroom mansion. His mother had passed away and his siblings were studying abroad, so it was just him and his dad. Davido secretly built a full music studio inside the house and spent most of his time there making music and smoking without his father’s knowledge.

After some time, Davido got tired of hiding his passion for music. He decided to leave Nigeria and went to live in London with a producer friend. He stayed there for about six months, working on his music career.

Meanwhile, back in Nigeria, his family became very worried. His father launched a major search for him. Security agencies including the police, army, and immigration officers were involved in trying to find him.

Davido said he was eventually caught at the airport when he returned from London. He had planned to stay with a friend, not go home immediately. But as soon as he arrived at the airport, an army officer recognized him and escorted him outside. There, he found several uniformed officers — and his father waiting.

Instead of getting angry, Davido’s father hugged him warmly. He was just happy to have his son back safely.
