In Cross River State, ten political parties have joined forces with the goal of removing Governor Bassey Otu from office in the 2027 elections.
The coalition was formed after a major meeting held yesterday in Calabar. Leaders of the parties agreed to unite and work together ahead of the next general elections.
The group criticized the way the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is running the state. They called for a return to good leadership, transparency, and accountability in government affairs.
In a statement signed by Rev. Omaleko Efut Omaleko, who is the Director of Communication and Strategy and Chairman of APGA in the state, the coalition warned the APC against trying to turn Cross River into a one-party state.
The meeting was attended by chairmen of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Allied People’s Movement (APM), Boot Party (BP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Representatives from the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) and New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) were also present.
The coalition says they are ready to fight for democracy and ensure the people of Cross River have better leadership by 2027.
