Elon Musk has spoken out after a former judge and his wife were arrested for allegedly hiding an illegal migrant linked to a dangerous gang.
The former judge, Joel Cano, and his wife, Nancy Cano, were taken into custody on April 26. Authorities say they were hiding Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, an undocumented migrant believed to be part of the violent Venezuelan gang known as Tren de Aragua.
Musk shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), calling the situation a “ridiculously obvious case of judicial corruption.” He also said that while judicial corruption is usually serious, it often doesn’t get much attention.
“This is a ridiculously obvious case of judicial corruption.
The vast majority of judicial corruption is just as severe, but not as obvious,” Musk wrote.
Reports say Ortega-Lopez first worked for Nancy Cano doing home repairs, and later stayed in their guesthouse. Investigators found gang-related items, including clothing, tattoos, and messages connecting him to Tren de Aragua.
Court records show Ortega-Lopez entered the U.S. illegally through Eagle Pass, Texas, on December 15, 2023.
