In the early hours of Thursday, some unknown gunmen kidnapped a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, in Kurmin Risga, a community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The priest was taken from his house at St. Gerald Quasi Parish around 12:15 a.m. The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan confirmed the incident through its Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet.
Fr. Shanet said the news is very sad and asked people to pray for the priest’s safe and quick return. He also urged the public to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.
He added that the Church will use all legal ways to bring Fr. Amos back safely and in good health.
Efforts to contact the Kaduna State Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, were not successful at the time this report was written.
