Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was not happy after his team drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Arsenal started well with Jakub Kiwior scoring the first goal from a free-kick. But Crystal Palace came back with a beautiful goal from Eberechi Eze. Before halftime, Leandro Trossard put Arsenal ahead again.
However, in the second half, a mistake by Arsenal’s defense allowed Jean-Philippe Mateta to score for Palace, and the game ended in a draw.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Arteta said he was disappointed with how the team played. “We dropped our standards and credit to Crystal Palace. We made too many simple mistakes and were slow in our play.”
When asked if the team was thinking ahead to their Champions League game against PSG, Arteta said, “We’ve talked about not losing focus. We had time to prepare, but we didn’t play well enough to win today.”
He added that the team will use the break to recover and get players back to full strength.
