Russian forces carried out a large drone attack overnight on the city of Odesa in southern Ukraine. The attack hit homes in a crowded residential area, causing fires and damage to many apartment buildings.
The mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, shared updates on Telegram. He said the drones targeted a busy part of the city where many people live. Photos posted by the mayor showed big fires and broken windows in apartment buildings.
Oleh Kiper, the regional governor, said the drone strikes damaged homes, a school, civilian buildings, and vehicles. Emergency teams were sent to the area right away. Officials are still checking for injuries or deaths.
Odesa, which has three important ports on the Black Sea, has been attacked many times during the ongoing conflict with Russia that has lasted more than three years.
