Seyi Law, Nigerian politics, Northern Nigeria, presidential leadership, Teju Babyface podcast, Nigerian presidents
Blog Post (Simple English):
Popular Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law, recently shared his opinion about how past Nigerian presidents handle politics. In an interview on the Deep Dive podcast with Teju Babyface, he said that many leaders have always tried to please the northern part of the country.
Seyi Law explained that most presidents play politics by focusing on the North because they believe other parts of Nigeria are more understanding and won’t complain as much. This, he said, often upsets him.
He also talked about supporting former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014. While he agreed that there was a lot of corruption during Jonathan’s time, he liked how Jonathan used technology to fight corruption instead of just making promises.
However, Seyi Law said Jonathan made a mistake by trying to please only one side of the country. According to him, when Jonathan finally decided to campaign seriously by spending money, many people saw it as “compensation” and didn’t really support him.
Seyi Law believes that Nigerian politics should be fair to all regions, not just one.
