British man dragged from police station and burnt to death after locals in Ecuador accuse him of murder

In a shocking event deep in Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, a British man lost his life after being accused of murder. The incident happened in the small riverside village of Playas del Cuyabeno, during a celebration for the local Kichwa community.

According to reports, the British man allegedly shot and killed a local man named Rodrigo Chavez during the celebration. After the shooting, police arrested the foreigner early on Sunday morning, April 20, and took him into custody at a small station in the village.

The police were waiting for backup because the area is very remote and hard to reach. They believed he would be safe inside the station. However, around midday, a group of angry locals returned, broke into the police station, dragged the man out, and burned him alive in front of officers.

Photos showed his body on the ground later, covered with a white sheet, as locals stood around.

The attack happened in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, a popular eco-tourism area in Ecuador’s Amazon region. It is the second largest protected area in the country.

Reports say that the police did not stop the crowd because they feared being attacked and didn’t want more violence or damage to government property. Backup forces took a long time to arrive due to the village’s location.

A third person was reportedly arrested for being involved in the British man’s death. Police are still investigating and have not released an official statement yet.

This incident highlights how quickly situations can escalate in isolated areas where law enforcement is limited.
