Amid Nigerian govt ban, Eedris Abdulkareem launches ‘Tell Your Papa’ challenge online

Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem has launched a new online challenge called the “Tell Your Papa” challenge. This comes after the Nigerian government banned his latest song of the same name.

The song, which criticizes President Tinubu, was banned from being played on all radio and TV stations. According to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the song was called “inappropriate and offensive” in a memo signed by Susan Obi, who is the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring.

Eedris responded to the ban on Instagram. He said the government is trying to stop people from speaking the truth and doesn’t want any criticism.

On Sunday, he introduced the “Tell Your Papa” challenge on his Instagram page. He said now is the time for Nigerians to speak up and not stay silent.

In his post, Eedris wrote, “Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence. There is a time to speak and a time to keep silent. This is the time to speak and make your voice heard.”
