Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s biggest airlines, has stopped flying to Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu for now. The airline says the decision was made because of safety concerns about the airport’s runway.
In a statement released by the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, Air Peace explained that the condition of the runway in Enugu has been causing problems with their flights. For safety reasons, they have decided to pause flights to and from the airport.
The statement also mentioned that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will now have time to fix the runway. During this period, all flights that were supposed to go to Enugu will now go through Asaba airport instead.
Air Peace apologized for the inconvenience and assured passengers that safety is always their number one priority.
