No Boko Haram Suspects Arrested in Lagos – Police Clarify

The Lagos State Police Command has refuted claims that hundreds of Boko Haram suspects were arrested in Lagos. CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, clarified in a Friday statement that the publication, dated April 17, 2025, is false.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, immediately ordered an investigation to verify the report’s authenticity. Findings confirmed that no Boko Haram members were spotted or detained anywhere in Lagos State.

Community leaders, drivers, and workers in the areas mentioned in the report confirmed to the police that they had no knowledge of any arrests or sightings of such individuals. Surveillance teams, the Lagos State Police Intelligence Department, and other units were dispatched to investigate further, but no supporting evidence was found.

Hundeyin stated that the report is entirely false and intended to cause unnecessary panic. He urged the public to disregard the publication and continue their normal activities without fear.

The police also appealed to media outlets to refrain from publishing unverified news, which could disrupt public peace. Hundeyin reassured Lagos residents of their safety and encouraged them to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact the control room on 08063299264.
