Nigerian skitmaker Isaac Aloma, popularly known as Zicsaloma, has taken to social media to express his frustration and pain over the treatment his mother received at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
According to him, his mother, who is currently fighting cancer, was taken to a private hospital on Lagos Island due to her worsening health. The private hospital, however, referred them to LUTH, where she had previously received chemotherapy.
But when they arrived at LUTH, Zicsaloma said the hospital did not admit her. Instead, they were told to go to a nearby lab for some tests. After the tests were done, they returned to LUTH, but he claimed the hospital gates were locked and his frail mother was not allowed back in.
He described his mother’s condition as very critical—so weak she couldn’t stand or sit properly. Yet, despite her state, no medical staff came to help her. He alleged that the hospital staff said they would only let her in after the test results came out, which could take up to three hours.
Zicsaloma said he pleaded with the doctors and other staff but received no help. He described their attitude as cold and uncaring, saying, “Our medical system is so bad. If you don’t know anyone, you’ll just die.”
The emotional video he shared has sparked conversations online, with many expressing concern over the state of healthcare in Nigeria.
