A woman from Kisumu County in Kenya has been arrested after she posted a photo of herself holding a gun on WhatsApp. In the post, she warned that any man who tried to break up with her would face serious consequences.
The woman, Sharon Auma, was arrested by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nyando. She was taken into custody along with her friend, Nancy Atieno Obura, for having an illegal firearm.
Police said Sharon had updated her WhatsApp status with the photo of her holding a Canik pistol and a threatening message. After receiving a report about the post, detectives quickly found and arrested her in Awasi town.
During questioning, Sharon told the police that the gun was at a rented house belonging to her friend Nancy. When officers searched the house, they found the pistol hidden in clothes inside a basin under a bed. They also found an empty magazine and a fake motorcycle number plate with the registration number KMGG 805M.
Both women are now in police custody and will be taken to court soon. Police are still investigating to find out if other people were involved.
