The House of Representatives has invited Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retired), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to a meeting on Thursday. This meeting will happen at 4 p.m. in Room 414 of the New House of Representatives Building at the National Assembly in Abuja.
This was shared in a statement by the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi, on Wednesday.
The invitation comes after a 21-member committee was set up by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen. The committee, led by House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, was formed to look into the situation in Rivers State after the National Assembly agreed to the President’s decision to declare a state of emergency there.
Prof. Ihonvbere said the session is important to help the House understand what is really happening in Rivers State and to guide their actions for the good of the public.
A few weeks ago, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to a long-running political crisis. He suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the members of the state assembly. After that, he appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Sole Administrator of the state.
