A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has ruled that removing Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly was not legal. The court said the action was against the constitution and has no effect.

The judgment was given on Wednesday. The court also cancelled everything the House of Assembly did on January 13, 2025, the day Obasa was removed.

Obasa had taken the matter to court, saying that his removal and the appointment of Mojisola Meranda as the new Speaker were not done properly. The court agreed with him and said the removal was not valid.
