Joint security operatives neutralize bandit kingpin, 100 bandits in Katsina

The Katsina State Government has announced a big success in the fight against banditry. A joint operation by the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force has killed over 100 bandits, including a well-known leader named Gwaska.

This happened on Friday during a planned military strike in areas like Mununu Bakai, Zango, Jeka Arera, Malali, and Ruwan Godiya. These places are in the Kankara and Faskari local government areas.

Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said that soldiers from the 17th Brigade and the 213 Forward Operating Base took part in the operation. They also destroyed two machine guns, some homemade guns, and other weapons so the criminals can’t use them again.

He said this mission has helped reduce the power of bandit groups that have been attacking communities in Faskari, Kankara, Bakori, Malumfashi, and Kafur.

Another raid was carried out early in the morning around 3:45 am on a bandit route near Dutsen Wori, close to Dandume town. In this attack, six bandits were killed, including their commander, and others ran away with gunshot wounds. Seven motorcycles were also recovered.

The bandits had been tracked from their base in Maigora/Doroyi camp in Faskari. Thankfully, no soldiers were hurt during the operation.
