Popular Nigerian media personality and actress, Toke Makinwa, has revealed that she is now open to the idea of being in a polygamous marriage. She said that at this stage in her life, she would consider becoming a second, third, fourth, or even fifth wife.
Toke shared this during a recent episode of her podcast Toke Moments, which she posted on her YouTube channel.
Speaking with her guest, fashion designer Banke Kuku, Toke questioned whether being independent has become too glamorised. She said, “Let me be honest. At this point in my life, if I get the chance to be the second, third, fourth, or fifth wife, I will take it.”
She explained that being strong and independent all the time can be exhausting. According to her, she wants a man she can depend on sometimes. “I’m the boss everywhere, and that gets tiring. Sometimes I just want someone to decide what’s for dinner. Must it always be me?”
Toke Makinwa was once married to businessman Maje Ayida. They tied the knot in 2014 but divorced in 2017. In late 2024, there were rumours that she had married her longtime friend, Farouk Umar. However, she denied the claims, saying they are just close friends and that the event in question was a Thanksgiving celebration.
