Ikpeazu should once again carry his cross – Former Abia Governor T.A Orji slams his successor over claim of Abia being in a ‘gloomy state’ when he took office in 2015

Former Governor of Abia State, Senator T.A. Orji, has responded to recent comments made by his successor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, urging him to stop pointing fingers and take responsibility for his own time in office.

Ikpeazu, while speaking at an event in Abuja, had said that Abia was in a “gloomy state” when he became governor in 2015. He also described leaders who blame their predecessors as “lazy.” But his comments didn’t sit well with Orji, who said Ikpeazu was guilty of the same thing he condemned.

Speaking through his former aide, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, Orji reminded Ikpeazu that leadership is about results, not just words. He said that instead of blaming others, Ikpeazu should focus on his own actions and what he did or didn’t do during his eight years in power.

“Leadership is not about making speeches. It’s about delivering good governance,” Orji said. “Ikpeazu should once again carry his cross and accept responsibility for his own decisions.”

This political exchange highlights ongoing tensions between past and present leaders in Abia State. But one thing is clear: the people want more accountability, less blame.
