A police officer in Ekiti State has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man at his home in Ise-Ekiti. The incident happened after the victim’s son had a disagreement with a female classmate, who is said to be the officer’s girlfriend.
The victim’s daughter posted videos online, asking for justice for her injured father. She explained that the officer works as a bodyguard to the personal orderly of a local government chairman.
According to her, the officer and two other policemen came to their house, claiming they wanted to arrest her brother. When the young man asked why he was being arrested, things turned violent. One of the officers allegedly began beating him. During the fight, her father was stabbed.
In one of the videos recorded at the hospital, her father is seen lying in pain. She also said the officer is well-known in the area for being violent.
She was upset that the officer had not been detained immediately, despite how serious the attack was. She called on President Bola Tinubu and the state’s Commissioner of Police to take action and ensure justice is served.
The police spokesperson in Ekiti State, SP Abutu, confirmed that the officer has now been arrested and is in detention while investigations are ongoing.
