Abuja-based lawyer, Stan Alieke, has shared an important legal message on social media to help Nigerians understand what counts as non-consensual sex under the law.
According to Stan, under the Nigerian Criminal Code, if a man ejaculates during sex without his partner’s permission, it is considered rape.
This means that even if both people agreed to have sex, the man still needs permission before ejaculating inside the woman. Without that specific consent, the act can be seen as rape under the law.
Stan also pointed out that Nigerian law currently only recognizes rape as something a man does to a woman. In other words, the law does not consider it rape if a woman forces a man to have sex.
His post has sparked discussions online, as many people are not aware of this part of the law. Stan believes that spreading this information will help people better understand consent and protect themselves legally and emotionally.
