Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has revealed why she chose to travel by helicopter rather than by road for her recent visit to her constituents in Kogi State.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the senator, who represents Kogi Central, said her husband advised her to take a helicopter instead of risking road travel.
Her visit came despite a government ban on rallies and processions. Supporters from five local government areas of Kogi Central gathered in Ihima, Okehi LGA, to welcome her.
Explaining her decision, Natasha said that several new security restrictions had made it difficult to enter her senatorial district. There were bans on fishing, water activities, and convoys, as well as numerous police checkpoints. She realized that traveling by road could be dangerous.
Her husband then suggested using a helicopter, which landed on land they owned near their home. This way, she could meet her supporters without breaking any laws.
“We did not break any law. The people gathered inside my compound, and the road we walked on was built by me, not the government. So, I followed the rules. I am a law-abiding citizen,” she said.
Her decision to use a helicopter ensured her safety while allowing her to connect with her people.
