FA Cup: It’s beyond belief – Rooney blasts Nottingham Forest coach over two players

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has strongly criticized Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo for leaving Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi out of the starting lineup in their FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton.

Rooney expressed his disbelief over the decision, saying he would have been furious if he were a Nottingham Forest fan. Despite being key players, Elanga and Hudson-Odoi only came on in the 61st minute.

Nottingham Forest secured a place in the FA Cup semi-final after a penalty shootout win, following a goalless 120 minutes. However, Rooney questioned why Santo rested two of his best attackers in such an important match.

Speaking on BBC’s pre-match coverage, Rooney said:

“I’m shocked. The FA Cup is a huge tournament, and to rest players in the quarter-final when there’s a big chance to reach the semi-finals is unbelievable.”

He emphasized that players need momentum and should be given the opportunity to compete for silverware. He also pointed out that Nottingham Forest is not guaranteed to win their upcoming Premier League game against Manchester United on Tuesday.

Rooney concluded by saying that leaving out key players in such a crucial match was “beyond belief.”
