Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has denied claims that he has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The former governor of Anambra State made it clear that he has no intention of switching to the ruling party.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obi dismissed reports linking him to an APC gathering. He emphasized that he does not take part in toxic politics, blackmail, or any form of political manipulation.
Obi stated, “I have seen reports on social media about an APC event where my name was mentioned. I want to be very clear: I do not engage in toxic politics or political games. My name should not be involved in such discussions.”
He further stressed that he is not a member of APC and has no plans to join in the future. According to him, his political values are based on fairness, integrity, and issue-based discussions.
Obi also mentioned that all political parties should assess candidates based on their leadership abilities, competence, and compassion. He used Valentine Ozigbo as an example, saying that like any other aspirant, Ozigbo should be judged by his leadership qualities in his new political party.
He wished all political parties the best in conducting free and fair primaries and called on political stakeholders to ensure justice in the process. Obi urged everyone to reject toxic politics, saying that this is the only way Nigeria can achieve true democracy.
By focusing on positive politics and good leadership, Obi believes the country will get closer to the “New Nigeria” that many people desire.
