The Super Eagles celebrated Ademola Lookman on Monday night after he won the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. His teammates surprised him with a cake during dinner at their training camp at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene.
Lookman received the prestigious award last December in Marrakech, Morocco. He follows in the footsteps of his fellow Nigerian, Victor Osimhen, who won it in 2023.
Osimhen praised Lookman for his hard work and dedication, saying he truly deserved the honor.
“Lookman deserved this award. He has been amazing for both his club and the Super Eagles,” Osimhen said.
“I’m proud of you. We talk privately, and I always tell you how happy I am that you chose to play for Nigeria. Your effort and commitment prove that you deserve to be Africa’s best,” he added.
Lookman and Osimhen played a key role in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday. The duo will be back in action today as the Super Eagles face Zimbabwe.
