The Osun State government has extended the curfew in the warring Ifon-Ilobu communities to Erin-Osun due to rising violence. Governor Ademola Adeleke made this decision after the crisis escalated, leading to loss of lives and destruction of property.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the curfew, which was initially from dusk to dawn, is now 24 hours daily until further notice. This measure is to prevent further violence and restore peace in the affected areas.
Governor Adeleke has ordered security agencies, including the Military, Police, Civil Defence, Immigration, NDLEA, and Amotekun, to enforce the curfew and maintain strict surveillance. He emphasized that law and order must be upheld, and those responsible for the violence will face justice.
The governor expressed sadness over the resurgence of the conflict and sympathized with those who lost their loved ones and property. He reassured residents that the government is committed to restoring peace and urged all communities to embrace unity and harmony.
The crisis, which reignited on March 20, 2025, has already claimed three lives and caused significant damage to properties worth millions of naira. In response, Governor Adeleke has also instructed the peace committee to resume work immediately to find a lasting solution to the conflict.
The Osun State government has made it clear that it will not tolerate any disruption of peace in the state and has urged residents to cooperate with security agencies to bring the situation under control.
