Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has promised the national football team, the Warriors, a cash bonus of $150,000 if they win against Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
The announcement was made by Nqobile Magwizi, the president of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).
The Warriors are hoping to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in history. However, they are currently at the bottom of Group C, with only two points from four matches.
Before facing Nigeria, Zimbabwe will play against Benin Republic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Thursday. Next Tuesday, they will travel to Uyo, Nigeria, to take on the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
A victory against Nigeria would be a huge boost for Zimbabwe’s World Cup dreams and could earn the players a generous reward from their president.
