Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State recently inspected ongoing road projects in Ogun East as part of his administration’s Urban Regeneration Scheme. He emphasized that the progress made in infrastructure and development must continue.
The governor highlighted various projects, including a dry port that will attract more investments to the state. He also mentioned that over 4,000 affordable houses have been built in Abeokuta, Ilaro, Sagamu, Iperu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ota for middle- and upper-income earners.
To improve transportation, Abiodun revealed plans to extend the Blue Rail Line from Agbado to Kajola and the Red Line from Okokomaiko in Lagos to Agbara in Ogun State.
The governor stated that his administration has identified 11 economically important roads for reconstruction. However, he acknowledged that it is impossible to fix all roads in just eight years. Despite this, he is proud of his administration’s achievements, saying they have likely built more roads than two previous governments combined.
While in Ode-Remo, he announced that the 12-kilometer Akaka-Ilara-Ilisan road contract had been awarded and that construction on the Ode-Isara road would begin soon.
During his inspection of the 15-kilometer Sagamu-Iperu-Ode-Sapaade road, Abiodun explained that it serves as an alternative route to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The road, initially planned as a single carriageway, was upgraded to a dual carriageway with community support.
He also visited the 14-kilometer Sagamu-Ayepe road in Sagamu Local Government, emphasizing that the first phase of construction is focused on densely populated areas.
At the Igbeba junction-Yidi road, the governor praised the quality of work done, particularly the three-foot drainage system, which will prevent flooding during the rainy season.
He recalled that the road was previously flooded like a “swimming pool” but assured residents that the government has found a lasting solution to the erosion problem.
Governor Abiodun thanked the people of Ogun for their support and reiterated his commitment to improving education, agriculture, youth empowerment, job creation, and infrastructure. He assured residents that key roads with economic benefits in Sagamu and other parts of the state would be completed before his tenure ends.
With these ongoing projects, the governor aims to sustain the state’s development and create a better future for its residents.
