Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle to name final 23-man squad ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying fixtures

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is set to reveal his final 23-man squad this week for Nigeria’s important 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Last week, Chelle named a provisional squad of 39 players. Now, he will cut the list down to 23 before leading Nigeria in his first matches as head coach.

A major highlight of the squad selection is the return of veteran captain Ahmed Musa, who is back in the team after almost a year.

The final squad is expected to be announced after the Champions League last-16 matches on Wednesday. The Super Eagles will then begin training in Kigali on Sunday to prepare for the crucial games.

Nigeria is currently in fifth place in Group C with just three points. The team has drawn against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa but lost to Benin Republic. With two must-win matches ahead—against Rwanda on March 21 in Kigali and Zimbabwe on March 25 in Uyo—Nigeria needs victories to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Fans are eagerly waiting to see the final squad as the Super Eagles prepare for these decisive matches.
