Former Nigerian footballer Mikel Obi has shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League under Mikel Arteta. He believes that while Arteta has improved the team, they still lack what it takes to become champions.

Speaking on his Obi One Podcast, the former Chelsea midfielder praised Arteta for making Arsenal stronger and playing attractive football. However, he questioned whether the manager could take the club to the next level.

“Has he done well for Arsenal? Yes. Has he improved Arsenal? Yes. There’s no doubt about it,” Mikel said.

He acknowledged that Arsenal has become a better team since Arteta took over but insisted that competing for the title is not enough—they need to win it.

“Arsenal fans keep talking about competing. No. They’ve got to win it,” he added.

The Gunners have come close in recent seasons but lost the title to Manchester City. This season, they are already 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool, making their title hopes even harder.

Mikel Obi reminded fans that Arsenal last won the league in 2004 under the Invincibles and urged the club to focus on winning, not just competing.
