US has ended pause on Ukraine intel sharing – Trump

The United States has ended its pause on sharing intelligence with Ukraine, according to former President Donald Trump. He stated on Sunday that he expects positive outcomes from upcoming discussions between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.

When asked if the suspension was lifted, Trump responded, “We just about have.”

Last Wednesday, CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed that the US had stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine. This move increased pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to engage in peace talks with Russia.

The pause in intelligence sharing followed the suspension of US military aid to Kyiv, which had raised concerns about Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russian attacks.

On Tuesday, US officials are set to meet with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia to discuss possible compromises Ukraine might make to end the war. Another key topic will be a minerals deal between the US and Ukraine.

Trump remains hopeful about the talks, saying, “We’re going to make a lot of progress, I believe, this week.”

Previously, Zelenskyy and Trump were expected to sign a minerals agreement that would allow the US access to Ukrainian mineral resources. However, a dispute during Zelenskyy’s White House visit prevented the deal from being finalized.

Trump now believes Ukraine will sign the agreement, which includes a US security guarantee. However, he stressed that he wants Ukraine to show more willingness for peace.

They will sign the minerals deal, but I want them to want peace… They haven’t shown it to the extent they should,” he said
