A fire broke out early Monday morning at the premises of Geometric Power, the company that operates Aba Power, Nigeria’s newest electricity distribution company (DisCo).

According to a statement from Geometric Power Management, the fire started in a temporary building located in the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba, Abia State.

The structure was previously used by a South African electricity company, Group 5, during the construction of Geometric Power’s facilities. However, the building had not been in active use for over 12 years.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but Geometric Power staff managed to contain it before the Abia State Fire Service arrived. The company praised its employees for their quick response and also appreciated the fire service for its swift action and professionalism.

Geometric Power also thanked the public for their concern and support following the incident. Thankfully, no major damage was reported, and the company continues its operations without disruption.
