Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has advised Arsenal to go after Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. Mateta has been linked with a move to Man United in the summer, but Rooney believes he could be a great fit for Arsenal.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Rooney praised Mateta for being a strong and powerful forward who scores a lot of goals. He pointed out that Arsenal often put crosses into the box but lack a striker to finish them off. According to him, Mateta could solve that problem for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Mateta joined Crystal Palace from Mainz in 2022 and has scored 34 goals over the last two seasons. Man United have already started talks with his representatives, but Arsenal are also looking to sign a top striker in the summer.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will follow Rooney’s advice and try to sign Mateta before the transfer window closes.
