EPL: Gary Neville identifies mistake Arsenal made for Bruno Fernandes goal

Football pundit Gary Neville has pointed out a mistake Arsenal made during their 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League. He believes their defensive wall was too far back, giving Bruno Fernandes a better chance to score from a free-kick.

The goal happened after Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard fouled Alejandro Garnacho and received a yellow card. Fernandes then stepped up and expertly bent the ball over the wall, beating Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said Arsenal’s wall was placed too far from the ball, making it easier for Fernandes to curve his shot over it. He explained that walls are usually positioned to make it difficult for free-kick takers, but in this case, there was too much space.

“It didn’t even go that high into the net,” Neville said. “He couldn’t get across, but you knew he had a chance—and he took it.”

Arsenal will likely review their set-piece defense after this mistake, as they continue their push for success in the Premier League.
