NiMet predicts 3-day sunshine, haziness

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of sunshine and hazy weather across the country. The forecast covers Saturday to Monday and includes possible thunderstorms in some southern states.

NiMet expects sunny and hazy skies in the northern and central parts of Nigeria. In the southern region, the morning will have cloudy skies with some sunshine. However, later in the day, thunderstorms could occur in parts of Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo, and Delta States.

On Sunday, the northern and central regions will experience sunny weather with hazy conditions throughout the day. The southern region will have cloudy skies with sunshine in the morning. Later in the day, thunderstorms may develop in parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa States.

The forecast for Monday remains similar, with sunny and hazy skies expected in the northern and central parts of Nigeria. The southern region will have cloudy skies with sunshine in the morning. Later in the day, thunderstorms could affect parts of Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa, and Cross River States.

NiMet has advised the public to take precautions, as dust particles will be present in the air. People with asthma or respiratory conditions should be extra cautious.

The agency also urged airline operators to follow safety guidelines and obtain updated weather reports for safe flight planning.
