Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has shared his opinion on who was the better player for Arsenal—Alexis Sanchez or Bukayo Saka. According to him, Sanchez was the superior footballer during his time at the club.
Both Sanchez and Saka have been among Arsenal’s most important players in the last ten years. Sanchez joined from Barcelona in 2014 and quickly became one of the top stars in the Premier League.
He played for the Gunners for four years, scoring many goals and helping them win trophies before moving to Manchester United in 2018.
On the other hand, Saka is a product of Arsenal’s youth academy. Despite being only 23, he has already established himself as one of the best wingers in the league.
Bent, who played for Arsenal’s rival club Tottenham, admitted that while Saka is an excellent player, Sanchez was on another level. However, he noted that the Chilean’s legacy at Arsenal was affected by the way he forced his exit from the club.
“Oh my goodness gracious me. You’re talking about them both at the top, top level. I promise you. It’s tarnished because of the way he left, but he was different, Sanchez was different,” Bent told talkSPORT.
During his time at Arsenal, Sanchez played 166 games, scored 80 goals, and provided 44 assists. He also helped the club win the FA Cup in 2015 and 2017.
Saka, meanwhile, has already played 250 games for Arsenal, scoring 67 goals and assisting 63 times. With many years ahead of him, he still has time to surpass Sanchez’s impact at the club.
