Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide and well-known Nigerian politician, has passed away at the age of 72. Reports say he died on Friday morning after battling a long-term illness, believed to be cancer.

Okupe played a major role in Nigerian politics. In 2022, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign for the 2023 election. However, he later stepped down after being convicted in court over an alleged money laundering case.
