Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has said that winning the UEFA Europa League is not the club’s biggest priority right now. Instead, he believes that focusing on building a strong team for the future is more important.
Speaking before Man United’s Europa League match against Real Sociedad, Amorim explained that many people see the competition as the club’s best chance to win a trophy and qualify for the UEFA Champions League. However, he thinks the club has bigger things to work on.
“People see the Europa League as the only competition we can win, as well as a way to qualify for the Champions League,” Amorim said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “But to be honest, we have more important things to focus on. I know it might sound strange, but building a strong team matters more than winning a trophy right now.”
At the moment, Manchester United are struggling in the Premier League, sitting in 14th place. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham recently. Amorim’s comments suggest that his main goal is long-term success rather than short-term victories.
